Habitat: Widely cultivated in gardens and sometimes found in the wild
Uses: The stalks are used for making hand drill fires by native Americans. It also has strong medicinal properties. It is not a food plant.

I have included Mullein (Verbascum) here because it is such a well known plant among people who are into friction firemaking with the hand drill fire.
